What it is this Webinar series about? 
This is a virtual event, taking place on three separate dates (each session has a different theme
and focus), hosted by the Health Sciences Academy in conjunction with the Limerick and
Clare Education & Training Board and supported by the Limerick Education Support Centre.
This series of live webinars is focused on students in post-primary schools, aiming to provide
information on healthcare as an option for further study and as a career.
Hear from current university-based students and healthcare professionals, across a range of
areas, explaining ‘a day in the life’, career journey and advice on subject choice. 
Who is it for? 
These interactive and live Zoom Webinars are for Transition Year, Fifth and Sixth year
students who are curious to learn more about a career in healthcare and studying health
sciences in University of Limerick. 
Event Timetable 
The event timetable for all three-morning sessions (1.45 hours for each session) is available
at www.HealthCareers.ie with the same registration link for all three days. Each session has a
different theme and focus.
Session Dates & Times
 Jan 30, 2024 09:15 - 11am: Community Health Services for people experiencing
homelessness and/or addiction
 Feb 1, 2024  09:15 - 11am: Caring for our families (Paediatrics & Stroke in older
persons)
 Feb 7, 2024  09:15 - 11am: Business in Health
What will students learn?
Students will hear from healthcare staff who are working in hospital and community settings
describing their day, their career journey and advice for anyone interested in pursuing
healthcare as a career.
They will also hear from students in University of Limerick who are studying health sciences
programmes including -
 Nursing
 Midwifery

 Medicine
 Physiotherapy
 Occupational therapy
 Speech and language therapy
 Human nutrition & dietetics
 Occupational therapy
 Psychology
 Paramedic Studies

University of Limerick staff and lecturers will also be on hand to give advice on programmes
and entry requirements.
