Developing And Implementing a Critical Incident Management Plan (CIMP)

Developing And Implementing a Critical Incident Management Plan (CIMP)

cimp---17.04.24-111.png

In a school context, NEPS suggests the following definition of a critical incident: any incident
or sequence of events which overwhelms the normal coping mechanisms of the school. In
this workshop the focus will be on planning to deal with bereavement
The key to managing a critical incident such as a bereavement is planning. NEPS
psychologists report that schools which have a CIMP cope more effectively in the aftermath
of an incident. Having a plan enables staff to react quickly and effectively and to maintain a
sense of control.
It will be an interactive workshop, acknowledging the importance of the experience
participants bring to the workshop. Numbers are limited to 25 to ensure that everyone gets
an opportunity to contribute
Participants will have an opportunity to talk through a sample policy and discuss its
implementation
