Computational Thinking Equipment Loan Scheme
We are delighted to announce that Galway Education Centre has invested significantly in STEM equipment for Primary schools, and we are now in a position to offer this equipment on loan to schools in Galway. Kits will be loaned to schools on a rotational basis.
Each of our Computational Thinking Kits contains the following:
6 x Lego WeDo 2.0 Core Sets (RRP €190 each - Suitable from 1st-6th Class)
LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set is a hands-on STEM solution that combines the LEGO brick, classroom-friendly software, engaging standards-based projects and a discovery based approach. Designed with collaboration in mind, each Core Set supports two students, introducing them to computational thinking and engineering principles in a fun and engaging way.
Bee-Bot – set of 6 with rechargeable docking station (RRP €409 – Suitable for Infants to 1st Class)
Bee-Bot’s simple and child friendly layout is a perfect starting point for teaching control, directional language and programming. With a wide range of cross curricular mats to program with, and fun accessories to personalise, Bee-Bot is the must have programming resource for any classroom. Bee-Bot can accurately move in steps of 15cm, turn in 90° turns, and remembers up to 40 steps!
Bee-Bot Accessories – two mats (RRP €39 each), and problem solving wooden maze (RRP €120)
We are cognisant of the huge financial outlay for a school who want to avail of CPD in this area and make use of this equipment. Galway Education Centre is now offering schools the opportunity to take a kit on loan from the Education Centre for a four week period.
If you are interested in applying for the loan scheme, your school can nominate two teachers to attend the introductory session in the Education Centre. Bee-Bots activities are suited to a teacher from Junior Infant – 1st Class, while the Lego activities suit a teacher from 1st – 6th.
Note:  It is essential that your school attends the session if you wish to take part in the scheme.

All schools who take the kit on loan will be asked for a nominal fee of €50 for the four - week period.
