PDST Digital Communities of Practice

The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) continues to provide its suite of supports
to accompany the Digital Learning Framework for all primary and post-primary schools this year. To
this end, as per the Digital Strategy for Schools Action Plan 2019, we will be commencing the PDST
Digital Communities of Practice (DigCOPs) in November. We are inviting one nominated teacher per
primary school and two nominated teachers per post-primary school to become involved in these
regional DigCOPs. It is envisaged that once established, these professional online communities of
practice will continue to operate next year to facilitate meaningful online collaboration and sharing
of practice.
Engagement in this initiative will involve the following:
● Registering for an account on eTwinning.net in advance of the initial Professional Learning
Day as participants will be using this free online platform to collaborate, discuss digital
learning and share examples of their practice.
● Attendance at an initial Professional Learning Day in November/December where training
will be provided at regional level regarding the use of the eTwinning platform. Sub cover will
be provided for those attending.
● Attendance at a Shared Learning Day at the end of this school year to meet with your cluster
of DigCOPs to share experiences to date and to discuss future plans. Sub cover will be
provided for those in attendance.
● An additional day of collective CPD for those taking part may be provided, if required.
If a teacher from your school would like to become involved in one of our regional DigCOPs, please
ask them to complete the online expression of interest form as follows: primary teachers form here .
Post-primary teachers form here . These forms can also be accessed at www.pdst.ie/DigCOP . The
closing date for expressions of interest is October 9th.
