Galway Primary School Film Fleadh

Filmmaking is an exciting way to teach literacy in a cross-curricular manner

This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the Galway Primary School Film Fleadh. You may have the next Saoirse Ronan or Cillian Murphy sitting in your class.

Galway Education Centre will hold professional development for teachers of 3rd – 6th class to give them the basics in producing a short film with their class.

It is important that teachers are available to attend all five professional development workshops. These will take place on Thursday evenings 6 pm-8 pm on the following dates:

Jan 9th, Jan 16th, Jan 23rd, Jan 30th and Feb 6th

The only technical requirement to take part is that your class will have access to an iPad to produce a short film.

All participating teachers will be asked to complete a short (less than 5 minutes) movie with their class on any one of the core themes of Galway 2020:

ü  Migration

ü  Landscape

ü  Language

A Film Fleadh will be held in the Eye Cinema in spring where the pupils will get to see their movies on the big screen.
